Day spa professionals attend training
Story from the Sidney Herald. May
7th, 2008
The gift of furthering education is not something people continue to do
every day, but the professionals at "An English Touch" Day Spa have
gone above and beyond to pamper and beautify its clientele even
more.
Janet Cook is the owner of "An English Touch"
Day Spa in Sidney. Cook is an esthetician, a semi-permanent make up
artist, and has 35 years of intensive European schooling. Cook
recently received more training in instituting chemical peels, skin
analysis, along with bringing in a new line of products.
Cook attended a seminar in Denver to learn new
techniques for her clients, and she is excited to possibly
incorporate group sessions in which to demonstrate the procedures.
In today's world, many people are in to anti-aging techniques, and
Cook is here to help.
"I learned about eight new types of peels,"
Cook said. "It's all about skin re-surfacing and being able to help
my clients with all types of skin conditions."
These procedures are for problem skin to
incorporate simple solutions with all skin types, and those that
include acne and hyper-pigmentation. "We have multi layers of skin,
and the problem may not be on the surface," she said.
The procedures will consist of a consultation
with Cook, and then learning steps in which to follow. "When you
think you've learned it all, then something else comes along," she
said.
Cammi Seader works with Cook at the spa, in
which she is nationally certified in therapeutic massage and
bodywork. Seader is also a Certified Integrative Reflexologist, a
licensed massage therapist, a American Massage Therapy Association
member, and carries an associate of applied science degree in
massage therapy from Williston State College.
Seader recently attended the AMTA North Dakota
Chapter Spring Convention. The presenter was George Kousaleos,
founder of the CORE Institute. Kousaleos served as the general
manager of the 1996 British Olympic Preparation Camp Sports Massage
Team. Kousaleos also served as co-director of the 2004 Athens
Olympic International Sports Manager Team.
The CORE Institutes' Sports and Performance
Seminar is based on a four-system approach to assist athletes
wanting to improve their endurance, speed, power and multi-skills
for their chosen sport by using the CORE's method of sports massage.
"Essentially, they're a part of the Olympic
Massage team," Seader said. "They came and showed what they use on
Olympic athletes. Now I can use those techniques on my clients. It's
not just for athletes, it's for everyone."
By furthering their education, these
professionals are advancing the spa to help their clients. An
English Touch Day Spa is located at 205 N. Central. For more
